A truly magnificent and 'perfect' stone has been unveiled to the world πŸ’Ž The 88.22-carat diamond is perfect according to every critical criterion: The diamond is graded D color (the highest grade for a white diamond), Flawless (exceptional clarity both internally and externally), Type IIa (most chemically pure with little if any nitrogen), and cut in oval from a 242-carat rough stone mined in Botswana.

The double-eights in the carat weight may hold extra significance to buyers of Asian heritage. Eight is considered a lucky number, and “88” is believed to bring good fortune in abundance. It is expected to fetch at least $11M when it goes to auction on April 2nd.

Patti Wong noted that the perfect 88.22-carat diamond is a “summary of everything: A wonder of nature, a masterpiece resulting from man’s ability to shape the hardest material on earth into an object of ultimate beauty and the most concentrated form of wealth, as stated by Pliny the Elder almost 2,000 years ago.”

Lady Gaga dazzled at the 2019 Oscars in a $30M Tiffany Diamond, last worn by Audrey Hepburn πŸ’Ž πŸ‘  The iconic stone weighs more than 128 carats and is one of the largest yellow diamonds in the world! Let's dig a little bit into the history of the stone:

It was discovered in 1877 in the Kimberley Mines in South Africa and at the time of its excavation was a rough stone totaling 287.42 carats. It was purchased by Charles Lewis Tiffany in 1878 and cut into a cushion-shaped diamond featuring 82 radiant facets — roughly two dozen more than a round brilliant diamond — to highlight the stone’s brilliance.

The Tiffany Diamond has never been worn on an awards show red carpet. It was last included as the center stone of a necklace for a publicity shot Audrey Hepburn did for — what else? — 1961’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Gaga complemented the necklace with a pair of earrings featuring fancy vivid yellow and white diamonds set in platinum and 18-karat yellow gold, from the house’s 2019 Extraordinary Tiffany Collection.

March's birthstone, Aquamarine, is both beautiful and affordable! Aquamarine is most often light in tone and ranges from greenish blue to blue-green, which makes a perfect compliment to any spring and summer wardrobe!

Believed to protect sailors, as well as to guarantee a safe voyage, the serene color of aquamarine is said to cool the temper, allowing the wearer to remain calm and levelheaded. Generally, the larger the stone, the more intense the color.

Turning rough, uncut diamonds into the beautiful jewels we wear, is an intense and artistic process! Rough diamond crystals are remarkably unremarkable. In their uncut state they possess no brilliance. Without the craftsmanship of man, diamonds look similar to a piece of common quartz.

It takes many hours and many steps for just one stone; marking, cleaving, sawing, girdling and faceting - each one critical to the quality and value of the diamond. Few people realize the time, intricacy and detail required to make the diamond on their finger sparkle the way it does!

ONE IN A MILLION! πŸ’– Rose Wissgott, 93, and her husband Rudy, 95, have celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary - a milestone reached by only about one in a million couples!

The couple married in Barton Church in 1949. They have two children, Monica and Karl, and have lived in the village for over 50 years. Rudy worked for ICI until he retired 37 years ago. They both loved dancing until they were past 90! Rudy still grows vegetables and flowers and tends his greenhouse. The couple have 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

On their golden wedding, they requested money for St Luke's Hospice instead of gifts and on their diamond anniversary they donated money to the burns unit of a hospital where one of their great grandchildren had been treated. "On each anniversary they have always given money to a worthy cause," said their daughter Monica. "They say they have everything they need."

Congratulations and a warm salute to this beautiful and enduring couple!
